Krista D. Varner, OTR/L
Clinic Director, Physical Therapist
“I believe in science-driven, evidence-based occupational therapy. My focus is getting patients back to “doing what they do” as I develop a purposefully plan of care. Whether it be restoring the ability to work or allowing leisure activities resume, my methods of evaluation, intervention and health promotion are developed in collaboration with the patient to establish desired goals and outcomes. I believe humans are capable of extraordinary adaptations when faced with adversity and I strive to educate and facilitate those who wish to achieve their highest potential.”
Joining the Phoenix Physical Therapy and Health Services, Inc. team in January 2015, Krista presently serves as co-facility director and lead occupational therapist for Phoenix’s outpatient physical therapy facility in Mifflintown. Here, she and her team are an integral part of the overall development and growth of the newest Phoenix location.
Krista has over 21 years of practical experience in a variety of settings including orthopedic outpatient rehab, inpatient rehab, home health, aquatic therapy and assisted living where her area of clinical expertise consists of treatments with upper quadrant orthopedic diagnoses including musculoskeletal injuries, tendon and nerve repairs and cumulative trauma disorders. In addition, she has performed physical disability screen on workers’ compensation patients and provided consultations on work conditioning programs.
Krista has provided occupational therapy care in and around the Juniata River Valley her entire career, most recently in Mifflintown. After hours, Krista enjoys spending time with her husband, Shane and daughter, Marin. When not attending her daughter’s year-round activities of soccer and dance, she enjoys shopping and making crafts.
